Biker Struck In Hit-And-Run Near W&OD Trail In Vienna

Police say a car hit a bicyclist trying to navigate between stopped traffic near the W&OD Trail in Vienna.

VIENNA, VA—A bicyclist near the Washington and Old Dominion Trail was hit by a car during a red light, Vienna Police say.

The incident happened Thursday, Sept. 7 as commuters were heading home around 5:40 p.m. Police say the bicyclist was heading south on Mill Road and attempted to cross Maple Avenue. Traffic was stopped for a red light at the Washington and Old Dominion Trail, and the bicylist tried to move between cars.

The victim tried to veer between cars and was not on the crosswalk when a car struck the bike. The car was heading westbound in the center turn lane, where traffic appeared to not be stopped. The car's driver fled after briefly getting out and looking around.

Police did not indicate that the bicyclist was seriously injured.

A citizen reported a male and a female having a dispute on the roadway. Police responded to the
scene and located the involved parties. During the investigation the officer was able to determine
that the underage male subject had been drinking alcohol. The male subject was arrested for
underage possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana. The parent of the male subject was
contacted and custody of the male subject was given to the parent.

September 19 12:00 p.m.

A resident reported a fight broke out between her dogs and a nearby neighbor’s dogs. The fight
happened when he was walking his dogs by her house. The neighbors hand was injured when he
attempted to break up the dogs.

Domestic Assault 17-8543

Saratoga Waye, NE
September 20 1:05 p.m.

A resident requested a police officer to assist with an assault that had just taken place. Officer
Harter arrived on scene and was able to determine that an assault had taken place.
The 30-year-old woman from Saratoga Waye NE in Vienna, VA was arrested on a felony assault
charge. The woman was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. A felony
warrant was obtained and served. The woman was being held with no bond.

August 5 2:35 p.m.

Vehicle-1 attempted to drive on the foot path of South Side Park, 1317 Ross Drive SW. Vehicle-
1 struck a bleacher bench and struck a wooden support post on a baseball dugout.
