Bomb Threat Investigated At Summer School In Vienna: Police
A student's threats against Cedar Lane School are under investigation.

VIENNA, VA—Vienna Police are investigating a bomb threat a student made against a school Tuesday.
Around 11:18 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to Cedar Lane School for a report of the threats. According to the principal, the student had been upset about attending summer school. The student reportedly threatened harm on students and staff, as well as threatening to bring explosives to the school. He left the school before police arrived.
The student, a juvenile, has not been identified. Police did not say if the threats were credible. The investigation continues.

A resident was contacted by an unknown person through the internet. The person offered to send
the resident a check if she purchased some Google Play gift cards. The resident purchased the
cards and provided the gift card numbers to the person before she realized it was a scam.

July 2 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
A resident received a telephone call from an unknown man who advised his company owed the
resident a refund. The resident provided the caller with his bank account information before
realizing the call was a scam.

200 Battle Street, SW
Between July 3 at 12:00 p.m. and July 10 at 12:00 p.m.
A resident was attempting to find employment online through ZipRecruiter. Through their site, the resident was set up with a person claiming to be a representative of a pharmaceutical company. The representative sent the resident a cashier’s check but advised her she would need to send the company money for startup costs. The resident contacted her bank who advised the cashier’s check was fraudulent.

July 3 8:06 p.m.
A large tree branch fell, blocking the roadway and causing a power outage. The branch also fell onto an unoccupied vehicle that was parked on the road.

July 6 3:20 a.m.
Officers responded to an alarm at the Exxon Gas Station. When they arrived they found the glass
on the front door was partially shattered. Damage was also found to one of the coolers inside the
business. It appears the damage may have been caused by some type of projectile. It does not
appear that anyone made entry into the business.

July 6 3:23 a.m.
Officers responded to the report of an alarm at the business. When they arrived, they found
someone had forced entry into the business and stole several cell phones.
Missing Person 18-005572
700 Block Upham Place, NW
July 9 7:54 p.m.
A resident reported her adult son was missing. The son suffers from disabilities and had walked
away from his home. Officers located the man and returned him to his home.
Vehicle Tampering 18-005608

Between July 9 at 6:30 p.m. and July 10 at 8:00 a.m.
A resident reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle as it was parked in her driveway. The unknown person rifled through the vehicle, but nothing was noticed missing.

400 Block Maple Avenue, East
July 10 1:56 p.m.
Sgt. Kiley observed a vehicle with an expired inspection traveling westbound on Maple Avenue and attempted to make a traffic stop. Before the officer could conduct the stop, he observed the vehicle strike another vehicle, then attempted to flee the scene of the accident. The vehicle was soon located by officers abandoned in a shopping center parking lot in the 300 block of Maple Avenue, East. This case is being further investigated.

July 11 11:00 a.m.
A citizen reported her credit cards were stolen from her purse while she was in the restaurant. The cards were then used for unauthorized purchases at Tysons Corner Mall.
