This July 4th weekend reminded us that freedom is not something we celebrate once a year. It is something we measure by the choices we make. With the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, significant changes to Medicaid and the ACA are now becoming reality. The campaign is over. The consequences are beginning. Rather than arguing politics, we are asking a more important question: what happens next?

This week's Friday Power Lunch moves beyond the political headlines to explore what these changes could mean for American families, healthcare providers, local communities, and the future of public policy. We follow the story through three lenses — The Decision, The Data, and The Reality.

Guests

Tom Perriello brings us The Decision. Former U.S. Congressman and Democratic candidate for Virginia's 5th Congressional District, Tom voted for the ACA in 2010, because he believed expanding access to healthcare was the right thing to do. It was a vote that ultimately cost him his congressional seat. Today, he's running again and will discuss why healthcare remains one of America's defining issues and what voters need to understand moving forward.

Charles Gaba brings us The Data. Founder of ACASignups.net and Blue25.org, Charles has spent more than a decade tracking the numbers behind healthcare policy — separating political rhetoric from measurable impact.

A representative from the Norfolk Department of Human Services brings us The Reality. This is where national policy becomes personal.

Every budget reflects a set of priorities. Every law carries consequences. And every decision eventually reaches someone's family. Together, we'll explore not just the politics of healthcare, but what happens after the votes are counted, the laws are signed, and communities begin living with the consequences.
