The bagel shop was founded by Daniela Moreira and Andrew Dana as they started from farmers markets. Call Your Mother Deli's flagship location opened in DC's Park View neighborhood in 2018, and it has since expanded to other parts of DC, Maryland, Virginia and even Denver. The shop describes its bagel as a blend of New York-style and Montreal-style bagels. The owners drew inspiration for their menu from their life experiences — Dana from growing up Jewish and Moreira from working at restaurants and growing up in Argentina. Most ingredients are made in-house, except for certain products sourced from local producers.

Call Your Mother Deli has locations in DC's Park View, Barracks Row, Georgetown, West End, Logan Circle, Connecticut Avenue and the Dupont Farmers Market as well as Bethesda, North Bethesda's Pike and Rose, Silver Spring Farmers Market, McLean and three in Denver. It will soon open a location on King Street in Old Town Alexandria, although an opening date has not yet been announced.
