January 09 8:58 a.m. A citizen was in a local business when another customer alerted him to the fact that his vehicle was on fire. Officer Reedy responded and was met by members of the Fairfax County Fire Department who were in the process of extinguishing the fire. The fire was extinguished however the Fire Department personnel determined the vehicle was a total loss.

400 Block Nutley Street, SW
Between January 09 at 6:00 p.m. and January 10 at 8:30 a.m. A resident reported that on several occasions she had seen an unknown man coming out of her backyard. Officer Holcombe responded and followed footprints in the snow to another residence and located the man who had been cutting through the resident’s yard. He stated he did not know he was not allowed to cut through her yard and informed Officer Holcombe that he would discontinue the activity.

Holy Comforter Church, 534 Beulah Road, NE
January 09 7:08 p.m. Officer Tracy responded to the Holy Comforter Church, Hypothermic Center, to assist with an individual who had become disorderly. An employee stated the Center was at maximum occupancy and the individual was refusing to leave. Officer Tracy informed the individual she would need to leave or would be charged with trespassing. She left without further incident.

Northwest Federal Credit Union
231 Maple Avenue, East
January 10 9:24 a.m. An employee reported that a customer had been in the Credit Union causing a disturbance and was refusing to leave. Officer Reedy responded and spoke with the customer and explained the employee’s wish that she leave the property. The customer left without further incident.

Lost Property 15-000231
100 Block East Street, NE
Between December 18, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. and January 08 at 7:00 p.m. A resident reported she could not find her platinum diamond ring. She was unsure if she placed it where it is usually kept after the last time she wore it.
Illegal Dumping 15-000454
Valerianne: Interior Design, 211 Mill Street, NE
Between December 31, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. and January 15 at 1:24 p.m. An employee reported that someone has been leaving items such as T.V.’s and large items of trash next to her recycling dumpster. She suspects it may be customers of the Pennywise Thrift Store leaving the items when the store is not accepting donations. Officer Holcombe suggested she put a sign on the dumpster that states it is for her business only. She also spoke with the employees of the Pennywise Thrift Store asking them to inform their customers not to leave anything near the dumpster.
Lost Property 15-000247
The Vienna Inn, 120 Maple Avenue, East
Between January 08 at 9:00 a.m. and January 09 at 12:31 p.m. A resident reported she had been to the Vienna Inn and then walked home. After arriving home she realized she had lost her Samsung Galaxy S4 cellular telephone. She and her husband retraced her steps from the Inn to her house and were unable to find the cell phone.

100 Block Maple Avenue, West
January 08 between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. MPO Shaw responded for the report of a dog named Lover who had been left, unattended, in a locked vehicle. After arriving he located Lover’s owner working in one of the local businesses. MPO Shaw and the owner checked on Lover and after being warmed up determined he was not in any further duress. MPO Shaw informed the owner of the consequences of leaving him unattended in the vehicle for long periods of time.

100 Block Center Street, North
January 08 4:20 p.m. MPO Evans responded for the report of a dog that had been left in a locked vehicle. Upon his arrival he located the dog and the owner. MPO Evans determined the dog was not in duress and provided the owner with options other than leaving her dog unattended in a vehicle.
Domestic Dispute 15-000230
Hunter Court, SW
January 08 9:27 p.m. Officer Herrera responded for the report of a mother and son involved in a heated argument. Upon arriving at the residence he located both the mother and her son and determined that no physical altercation had occurred. Officer Herrera suggested the son should go to his bedroom to allow for a cooling off period.

Between January 09 at 11:30 a.m. and January 10 at 11:00 a.m. An employee reported she found a broken key in the lock to the front door of the business. There were no other signs that anyone had tried to force entry into the business.

200 Block Oak Street, SW
January 09 12:00 p.m. ACO Barker received a report of a Pitbull wearing a bandana limping in the neighborhood. ACO Barker along with Officer Reedy located the dog and secured him back at his residence. ACO Barker is following up with this case.

200 Block Commons Drive, NW
January 09 5:22 p.m. Officer Holcombe responded to assist with a resident who had fallen while attempting to gain access to her residence through a bedroom window. Upon her arrival Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were tending to the resident who was then transported to an area hospital.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation 15-000309
900 Block Maple Avenue, East
January 11 1:29 a.m. Sgt. Juelharte was on patrol when she observed the driver of a vehicle commit a traffic offense. As a result of that offense she conducted a traffic stop. Upon her approach to the vehicle she detected the distinct odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. After speaking with the driver and the occupants a measurable amount of marijuana was located. Sgt. Juelharte issued a summons to Richard Benjamin Greer, 34, of 57th Avenue in Hyattsville, Maryland for Possession of Marijuana. Mr. Greer was released after signing the summons.

January 12 9:00 a.m. An employee reported she had lost her Galaxy 3 cellular telephone in the restroom of the Giant Food Store.

300 Block Lewis Street, NW
January 12 1:53 p.m. An alarm company reported that a residential alarm had been activated. Officer Tremont responded and located a door that had been left unsecured. A search of the residence disclosed nothing appeared to be out of place.

The Hope Center, 140 Park Street, SE
January 13 10:00 a.m. ACO Barker transported a dog from the Hope Center to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter to be tested for Rabies.
Animal Case 15-000373
600 Block Thelma Circle, SW
January 13 12:00 p.m. ACO Barker requested the assistance of Sgt. Juelharte to capture a fox that had been found to have lost its fear of humans. The fox was able to elude capture and fled the area.
Medical Case 15-000384
800 Block Ware Street, SW
January 13 4:31 p.m. Officer Herrera responded for the report of a man in desperate need of medical attention. Upon arriving on the scene he was met by a female performing CPR on the individual. Officer Herrera took over CPR and after several compressions the man began to breathe although still unconscious. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and transported him to an area hospital for treatment. Officer Herrera contacted the hospital and was informed the man was in stable condition.
