Car Goes Airborne On I-66, Lands On Metro Rail Tracks In Fairfax Co.
After hitting snow and ice along the left shoulder of westbound I-66 on Wednesday, a car ended up on the Metro Rail tracks, authorities say.

FAIRFAX, VA — A driver who reached for his EZ Pass device on Interstate 66 in ended up on Metro Rail tracks in Fairfax County midday on Wednesday, according to the Virginia State Police.
The incident round 11:25 a.m in the westbound lanes near the 64-mile marker was heading westbound near the 64-mile marker, according to VSP. The vehicle ran off of the left side of the road, where snow and ice on the left shoulder acted as a ramp.
Once the vehicle was airborne, it crashed through the fencing and landed on the tracks, according to police.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He was later charged with reckless driving, police say. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and Metro Transit Police assisted the state police.
