Crash on I-66 Snarls Traffic Thursday Morning

Three-vehicle crash creates 7.5-mile backup.

UPDATE 7:27 a.m.: ABC 7 and NewsChannel 8’s Julie Wright reports that the crash has been cleared and all lanes are now open; 80-minute drive from Manassas on eastbound I-66 to I-495.

UPDATE 7:20 a.m.: The NBC-4 First4Traffic chopper reports on social media that only one lane is now blocked, but there remains about a 7-mile backup at about 7:20 a.m. Thursday on I-66 due to a three-car crash near I-495 on eastbound I-66.

UPDATE 7:10 a.m.: Two lanes are open; two left lanes are still blocked with a three-vehicle crash. Backup is 7.5 miles long, according to Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination.

Fairfax County Police warn Thursday morning that three lanes of eastbound I-66 are shut down due to a crash. The incident is near I-495, they said in a post at about 6:45 a.m. on Twitter Thursday morning:
