Dental Office Marks 15 Years Amid Changing Tysons
While The Boro and other developments are in progress nearby, Nicole Van's dental office has become a mainstay in the community.

Tysons has been dramatically evolving over the last decade or so—let alone in the last century. The forthcoming Boro mixed-use development near the Greensboro Metro station exemplifies the changes coming: a transformation from an office and shopping hub to a liveable, walkable area. Just across from The Boro on Greensboro Drive, Nicole Van's dental office has made small business work in the changing community for 15 years.
The dental office provides services ranging from traditional dental work to Invisalign clear braces with a patient-centric focus. With nine staff members and continuing efforts to offer the latest dental technology in the office, Van describes her dental office as a "mom and pop shop" with a "focus on technology." The office finished its most recent renovations in the summer.
A longtime Vienna resident, Van practiced in that town before opening her office in Tysons. She ultimately chose Tysons for its central location near businesses and her three kids at home.

"We see so many familiar faces from our kids' school community and the sports community," Van told Patch in an interview. "It's very town-like in this area."
Staying in touch with patients has been the most rewarding factor in Van's 22 years of dentistry. Staying true to the name of a family dentistry, she gets patients that now live in Philadelphia and Texas.

"I love...having treated kids that were 4 or 5 years old and now they're graduating college," Van said.
As a small business owner, Van stays optimistic about the transformation of Tysons. In fact, when Metro's Silver Line expanded, she says it "brought more energy." She has a similar sentiment about the neighboring Boro development.
And in return, a small business like Van's has a lot to offer the future Boro residents.
"People are still wanting that personal connection wherever [they] go," she says.
