Driver Strikes Tree After Leaving Vienna ABC Store
An intoxicated Vienna woman hit a tree at a Virginia ABC store on Memorial Day. Plus, more in the weekly Vienna crime report.

VIENNA, VA -- An intoxicated Vienna woman hit a tree while backing out of the parking lot at a Virginia ABC store on Memorial Day. The incident occurred at the 436 Maple Avenue East store.
Around noon, police responded to the incident and found the 30-year old driver with signs of impairment. She refused to take a breathalyzer test but was arrested after failing a series of sobriety tests.

She was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. The police department did not release the woman's identity.

Animal Case – Dog Bite 17-004702

May 26 5:00 a.m.
A resident was walking when he was approached by a woman walking two large, black dogs on a leash. As he passed them one of the dogs bit him on the thigh causing minor injury. The resident was seeking medical attention.
Arrest – Domestic Assault 17-004744
Beulah Road, NE
May 27 2:00 a.m.
A resident reported she and her husband were having an argument when he assaulted her. Officers located the man, who was intoxicated, in the front yard of the residence. Ofc. Williams arrested the 43-year-old man from Beulah Road in Vienna. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Domestic Assault and Drunk In Public. An Emergency Protective Order was also issued and the man was held on a $4000 secured bond.
Suspicious Event 17-004745
500 Block Valley Drive, SE
May 27 2:00 a.m.
A resident reported someone was banging on his front door, he then observed fire on his front porch. When officers arrived the fire had extinguished and they observed excrement on the porch with burnt ashes. The resident advised he has had a continuous problem with harassment by a group of juveniles.

May 27 6:30 p.m.
A juvenile reported he was assaulted by another juvenile acquaintance at the festival. The juvenile suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by rescue personnel.
Officers notified the injured juvenile’s father of the incident and advised him of the warrant process should they wish to pursue charges for the assault.
Assist Fire & Rescue 17-004809
Windover Avenue and Commons Drive, NW
May 29 2:59 a.m.
Officers responded to the report of a parked truck leaking gas onto the roadway. Fairfax County Fire & Rescue personnel, along with their Hazmat unit, responded to control the leak and clean up the spill. Officers were unable to locate the owner of the truck. The truck was towed from the roadway as it was deemed a fire hazard.

May 30 between 11:00 and 11:54 a.m.
An employee received a telephone call from an unknown man stating that he had kidnapped the employee’s daughter and demanded a ransom for her release. Officers arrived shortly after the caller disconnected the call. They were quickly able to verify with the employee that all of his relatives were accounted for and that no abduction had taken place.

June 1 2:16 a.m.
Officers responded to a report of several people fighting in the parking lot. When officers arrived most of the crowd dispersed. Rescue responded and treated two of the men on scene for minor injuries. Everyone involved left the area without further incident.
Civil Case 17-004937
300 Block Tapawingo Road, SW
June 1 9:55 p.m.
Officers responded for a civil dispute between parents and their son. The father had evicted his adult son from his home. The son did not believe the eviction was valid. Both the mother and son agreed to leave the home.
