The crash covered multiple lanes in dirt on the Beltway near I-66.
If you were stuck in backups on the Capital Beltway in Northern Virginia Thursday morning, there's a chance it was due to an overturned dump truck.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded to the outer loop of I-495 on a ramp to Interstate 66 around 10:37 a.m. A truck loaded with dirt had overturned during a crash.
There were no serious injuries, but the crash caused major traffic backups because of dirt spilled onto multiple lanes. The crash also resulted in a minor fuel spill that fire department crews handled.
