Mark your calendars for Sunday October 28th at 3:00PM and join us as we step back in time with Doc Scantlin and His Imperial Palms Orchestra as they bring their toe-tapping, can’t-sit-down kind of music complete with the look and feel of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s to Vienna, VA. This will be a single performance Sunday matinee show at the Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Park Street, NE, Vienna, VA 22180. Doc and his orchestra have been entertaining audiences locally, nationally and internationally for over 20 years. Recently they have become regulars at the Carlyle Club in Old Town Alexandria. Doc has entertained numerous celebrities from President Reagan for his 80th birthday party, Royal Prince Pavlos of Greece at his wedding, countless fans on New Year’s Eve at the Rainbow Room in New York City in addition to a multitude of corporate balls and fund raisers. The Shepherd's Center of Oakton-Vienna is fortunate to book Doc Scantlin and his Imperial Palms Orchestra for this, their annual fund raiser.
The Shepherd’s Center of Oakton-Vienna is a local non profit that provides free services for seniors in Oakton, Vienna and regions of Fairfax & Reston. In addition, SCOV presents opportunities for personal enrichment and volunteer opportunities for adults over 50. SCOV is best known for free transportation for seniors, that no longer drive, to either medical appointments or for errands. Other services provided are friendly caller, friendly visitor, handy helpers and declulttering advice. The Shepherd’s Center also sponsors a bi weekly Caregivers Support Group; offer three semesters of classes each year for enrichment; trips and outings and a quarterly luncheon series. SCOV does not receive any funds from government grants and is supported by local business; congregations and individuals.
