Expanded Alcohol Use Considered By Fairfax County Park Authority
The park authority had received increased requests to have alcohol at parks.

The Fairfax County Park Authority will consider expanding permitted alcohol use at public parks, an issue they've been studying since 2016.
The park authority says there have been increased requests for having alcohol at park facilities. "The Park Authority has allowed limited alcohol sales at private events and golf courses since the mid-1970s. Since then, alcohol-related services have become an industry standard practice that has enhanced services available to the public for weddings, special events and family reunions," said the agency in a statement.
Under the policy, alcohol would be prohibited unless the park authority has granted a permit.

Permits would be required for public or private rentals, events and activities with alcohol on park authority property. Permit applications would need to describe the scope of the activity including security plans and event logistics.
A public meeting will be held Thursday, June 28 at 7 p.m. at Twin Lakes Golf Course Clubhouse, 6201 Union Mill Road, Clifton. After the meeting, a 30-day public comment period will follow, and the Fairfax County Park Board will consider a policy proposal.
