ARLINGTON, VA — A motorcade carrying the body of a Marine killed in Afghanistan passed through Fairfax and Arlington counties Monday.
USMC Sgt. Nicole Gee, 23, was one of 13 U.S. troops killed in an attack near the Kabul airport in Afghanistan's capital on Aug. 26. A service for Gee was held in her hometown of Roseville, California on Sept. 18. Family remembered her passion for her service, exemplified in the photo Gee shared of her comforting an Afghan baby. Gee captioned the picture "Kabul, Afghanistan, I love my job."
Gee's motorcade arrived in Northern Virginia Monday. According to Fairfax County Police, a police motorcade was scheduled to escort the hearse to a funeral home in Arlington around 7:30 p.m. via Dulles Access Road.
