Fatality Reported In Vienna House Fire

Firefighters encountered fire through the roof of the home and located a deceased resident.

VIENNA, VA — One person was found dead in a Vienna house fire early Tuesday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Around 2:05 a.m., Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and Vienna Police responded to the 900 block of Lauren Lane SE and encountered fire showing from the roof. Crews worked to extinguish the fire and found the victim deceased in the home.

Vienna Police said in a statement the victim was an elderly woman. Her two cats her also found dead in the home.

Fire investigators determined the fire started on the second floor, but the cause remains under investigation. Damages were estimated to be $374,075.
