3 Displaced After Fire Starts Around Oakton Home's Fireplace
No one was injured during the Saturday night fire in Oakton.
OAKTON, VA—Fairfax County Fire and Rescue tackled a fire originating in a fireplace Saturday night in Oakton. No one was injured.
Around 11:48 p.m., units responded to the 12000 block of Waples Mill Road. Units found and extinguished a fire around the fireplace. Three residents were home and evacuated before firefighters arrived.
Investigators determined the fire's cause to be the wood framing between the chimney and stone veneer igniting. The initial damage estimate is $93,750.
