Fireworks Likely Ignite Bush Fire In Vienna
A Vienna resident heard a loud bang that sounded like fireworks and found a bush on fire.

VIENNA, VA—A bush caught fire from what a Vienna resident believes were fireworks this week.
Around 11 p.m. on July 11, A Vienna resident at the 300 block of Tapawingo Road SE heard a loud bang that sounded like fireworks. He went outside to check on the noise and found a bush on fire.

June 18 2:30 p.m.
A pedestrian, a Giant Food employee, was collecting grocery carts in the parking lot when he was struck by a vehicle that backed into him. The driver left the scene without stopping. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries. Attempts to locate the driver were unsuccessful.
Arrest – Alcohol Violation 17-006122
200 Block Mill Street, NE
July 7 12:17 a.m.
MPO Nelson observed an occupied vehicle in a parking lot. As the officer approached the vehicle he detected an odor of alcohol and marijuana. The occupants were all found to be in possession of alcohol. There was no measurable amount of marijuana located. MPO Nelson charged the occupants; a 19-year-old woman from Creek Branch Court in Centreville, Virginia, a 20-year-old woman from Castleford Court in Centreville, Virginia, a 19-year-old woman from Cub Run Road in Chantilly, Virginia, an 18-year-old woman from Village
Center Drive in Centreville, Virginia, and a 19-year-old woman from Wheat Mill Way in Centreville, Virginia with Underage Possession of Alcohol. The women were all released on their signatures.
Assault 17-006127
Casmar Drive, SE
July 7 9:02 a.m.
Officers responded to the report of a man and woman arguing outside of a residence. The woman advised the man, her boyfriend, had assaulted her. Rescue personnel transported the woman to an area hospital for evaluation. This case is being investigated.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation and Alcohol Violation 17-006176 and 17-6178
600 Block Valley Drive, SE
July 8 10:43 p.m.
Officers responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of Valley Drive, SE. They located the occupied vehicle and, upon their interaction with the occupants, detected an odor of alcohol and marijuana. Both alcohol and a measurable amount of marijuana were located in the vehicle.
MPO Smith charged the 19-year-old man from Ware Street, SW, Vienna with Possession of
Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Underage Possession of Alcohol. MPO Shaw charged the 19-year-old man from Cedar Lane, SE, Vienna with Possession of Marijuana and Underage Possession of Alcohol. Both men were released on their signatures.
Crash – 300 Block East Street, NE 17-006196
July 9 3:40 p.m.
A driver was traveling northbound on East Street, NE when she struck the right curb. As she tried to correct her steering she struck a mailbox, dislodged a tree from the ground and then the vehicle came to rest against another tree.

Arrest – Traffic Violation 17-006188
800 Block Maple Avenue, East
July 9 8:58 a.m.
MPO Lose observed a vehicle commit a traffic offense and initiated a traffic stop. The driver
was found to be driving on a revoked Virginia license. MPO Lose arrested the 34-year-old man
from Tumeller Avenue, Hyattsville, Maryland. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult
Detention Center where he was charged with Driving on a Revoked License and released on his
signature.
