First Bloomie's Opens With Colada Shop At Mosaic District

The new concept Bloomie's is a smaller format store of Bloomingdale's. A block party is underway to celebrate the opening.

MERRIFIELD, VA — Bloomie's, a new concept store from Bloomingdale's, opened its first location at the Mosaic District Thursday. Cuban café Colada Shop also opened Thursday inside Bloomie's.

Bloomie's is a scaled-down version of Bloomingdale's with a curated selection of contemporary and luxury brands. The 22,000-square-foot store is located at 2920 District Ave., Fairfax, VA.

"We are thrilled to introduce the world to Bloomie’s, and for our customers in the DMV community to be the first to experience this exciting new concept," said Tony Spring, CEO of Bloomingdale’s, in a statement. "Bloomie’s is designed to be a more convenient and casual concept that fits into our customer’s everyday lifestyle. And, with our staff of stylists, omni services, lively restaurant, and elevated assortment, Bloomie’s can be their favorite neighborhood store."

Shoppers can find women's apparel and shoes, men's apparel and shoes, accessories, sneakers, handbags, men's and women's activewear, skincare, makeup and fragrances. Fresh deliveries of merchandise will come multiple times per week, and carts located throughout the store showcase new finds.

With the new store comes the relaunch of the Bloomie's brand of apparel, shoes and lifestyle accessories. The first collection of Bloomie's merchandise includes 35 special pieces from varsity jackets to combat boots to a special edition Zippo lighter.

Every season, Bloomie's will launch two drops, including limited-edition collaborations with every collection. The collection is only available at Bloomie’s, the Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship store in New York and online.

Aside from curated merchandise offerings, Bloomie's aims to provide convenient services such as tech-enabled stylists. The Bloomie's stylists use technology to help customers and provide expertise on all categories of merchandise. Stylists can also help customers find items outside Bloomie's in nearby Bloomingdale's stores, at the flagship 59th street store and online.

The first-ever Bloomie’s van offers in-home stylist appointments, special deliveries and mobile experiences. The store also has a customization desk for personalization, customization and alteration services.

Assistance with shopping can be found at the front desk upon entry. Customers can buy online and pick up in store or through curbside pickup, and the store has a return dropbox for online returns.

Among the brands customers will find at Bloomie's are women's apparel such as Ganni, Staud, Maje, Rag & Bone, Cult Gaia, Jonathan Simkhai STANDARD, LoveShackFancy, Moussy, Mother, FRAME, RE/DONE, AQUA and more.

Women’s shoes come from Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Proenza Schouler, MCM, Loeffler Randall, Birkenstock and Golden Goose; handbags come from Mansur Gavriel, Marc Jacobs and See by Chloe and eyewear comes from Gucci, Celine, Dior, Saint Laurent and Prada.

Men's and women's activewear brands include Stella McCartney, Alo Yoga, Koral, Y-3 and Nike, while a wall display of sneakers has designer favorites and training shoes.

Men's apparel, shoes and accessories brands include Vince, Helmut Lang, Salomon, Barbour and McQ.

The elevated skincare, makeup and fragrance offerings come from La Mer, Dior, Dr. Barbara Sturm, Sunday Riley, Byredo, Diptyque, Creed and Maison Francis Kurkdjian.

Colada Shop is a DC-based restaurant with locations at DC's Wharf; 14th Street; Potomac, Maryland and now Mosaic District. Diners can find breakfast items, sandwiches, bowls, sides and all-day appetizers, desserts, coffee, cocktails and other drinks. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating.

To celebrate the opening, Bloomie's is hosting a block party from Thursday to Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The block party includes indoor and outdoor activations such as outdoor games, bubble and sketch artists, beauty demonstrations and complimentary customization services with a Bloomie’s purchase with patches, embroidery and more.

Saturday's block party will have family-friendly activities like a balloon artist, airbrush tattoos, and more. Colada Shop will offer an outdoor happy hour each day from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with specially priced drinks and snacks and a ticket for a complimentary gift at Bloomie’s.

Bloomie's and Colada Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
