Fairfax County students started classes a week before Labor Day. See first day of school pictures from around the county.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA—Fairfax County students went back to school on Monday, Aug. 28, a week before the Labor Day holiday.

Students from Mount Vernon to Reston, from elementary school children to rising seniors, went back to school earlier this year. Last year, students resumed classes on Sept. 6, after the holiday.

Fairfax County Public Schools is the largest district in Virginia, serving more than 189,000 students. See how students spent the first day back. Welcome back students!
