Few Road Closures, Flooding Continue In Parts Of Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA—Parts of Fairfax County were under a flood warning through Tuesday afternoon amid reports of flooding, downed trees and closed roads. Up to two inches of rain and thunderstorms were expected Tuesday, and a flood watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon.

Already saturated grounds from days of rain with additional rainfall could cause more flooding in the afternoon, the National Weather Service reports. Flooding prompted road closures in the warning area.

An earlier flash flood warning was issued for Eastern Loudoun County, the City of Fairfax, City of Falls Church, central Fairfax County and east central Prince William County. Places that may experience flooding include Reston, Annandale, Springfield, Fairfax, Vienna, Falls Church, Lowes Island, Mantua, Fort Belvoir, Pimmit Hills, Woodbridge, Mclean, Potomac, Lake Ridge, Burke and Oakton.

Fairfax County Police have announced numerous road closures and remind residents to turn around, don't drown when coming across flooded roads.

Annandale
