Flooding, Road Closures Affecting Areas Of Fairfax County

The flooding that appeared overnight Wednesday seemed like deja vu for many in the DC region. A new bout of rain have resulted in saturated grounds, downed trees and flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say flooding is ongoing Wednesday morning west of DC. In particular, streams such as Broad Run near Manassas and Difficult Run in Fairfax are experiencing high water levels.

Here are road closures reported by Fairfax County Police as of 10 a.m.

Annandale

• 3540 block of Woodburn Road: Water in the roadway
• Braeburn Drive at Pontiac Drive: Tree down

Chantilly

• Melville Lane at Sand Rock Lane: Tree down

Clifton

• 12300 block of Chapel Road: Water in the roadway (reopened)
• Compton Road at Compton Heights Circle: Water in the roadway (reopened)
• Compton Road at Balmoral Forest Road: Water in the roadway and tree down (reopened)

Fairfax

• 3400 block of Prosperity Avenue: Water in the roadway
• Summit Drive at Chronical Drive: Damaged roadway

Fairfax Station

• Fairfax Station Road between Innisvale Drive and Moonpatterns Trail: Water in the roadway

Falls Church

• Leesburg Pike westbound under I-66: Water in the roadway (reopened)

Great Falls
