Girls' Lacrosse: Madison's Season Ends with Regional Quarterfinal Loss

Warhawks shut out Osbourn, fall to Centreville in Region 6A Tournament

After rolling past Osbourn High School 22-0 on May 17, Madison was unable to continue its winning streak 2 days later against Centreville High School. Both games were played on Madison’s home turf. Centreville began the May 19 match by scoring 3 quick goals and opening up a deficit that proved difficult for Madison to overcome. The Warhawks attempted a late-game rally but had difficulty penetrating the Charger defense. Centreville ultimately prevailed 10 -6. Goalie Ellie Socher had 7 saves, while Haley Swaak, Jacqueline Schultz, Logan Hanton and Diana Lowther were among the Warhawks who forced Centreville turnovers. Scorers for Madison during regional play were Schultz, Hanton, Lowther, Andie Battin, Caroline Kurtz, Annabelle Bentley, Zoe Dyer, Carly Rogers, Ashley Go, Caroline Turner, Bailey Brummer, Grace McDonough, Laurel Yano, McKenna Nolan, Olivia Choutka and Morgan Muse. The Warhawks finish the season with a record of 12-3, having dropped only 1 of 10 consecutive games prior to the contest against Centreville. They are the 2016 Liberty Conference Champions.
