Giving Tuesday - 11/29/16 - A National Day of Giving
Kick off the charitable season with an end-of-year donation to a nonprofit with a mission to feed, clothe and educate children in need.
The giving season is just around the corner. After celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday with your loved ones and taking advantage of the many Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, consider donating some of the money you saved to your favorite charity on Giving Tuesday, November 29. This year, Assistance League of Northern Virginia, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will participate in this national movement to raise awareness and funds for its Operation School Bell programs which feed, clothe and educate over 6,000 children in Northern Virginia. With your help, we can continue to bring critical programs including, Weekend Food for Kids, New Clothing for Kids and Reading Express to children in need.
Assistance League is one of more than 120 chapters of a national organization that puts caring and commitment into action. Last year, member volunteers and community volunteers contributed more than 10,200 service hours, raising $117,388 for our philanthropic programs. In fact, 88.5% of funds raised were returned to our local community.
