Got Drugs? Get Rid Of Them In Vienna Next Week

Vienna residents can safely get rid of unused drugs for free during an upcoming collection.

VIENNA, VA—If you've been holding on to unused prescription drugs, now's the time to get rid of them with no questions asked. Vienna Police are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration in a one-day effort to collect unused drugs on Oct. 28.

Residents can stop by the Vienna Police Department at 215 Center Street South to anonymously turn in prescription medications, controlled or non-controlled substances, and over the counter drugs. Collections will happen between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The collection is open to residents but not businesses, pharmacies and medical facilities.

There are a few reminders residents should know before they go. It's recommended that identifying information be removed from the prescription label. Liquid products should remain sealed in their original container to prevent leakage. The event will not accept intravenous solutions, injectables, and syringes due to safety hazards.
