Greater Fairfax and Northern Fairfax go to states

The Vienna Babe Ruth Senior League All Stars today lost their last chance to win a pass to the State Tournament, to be held next week in Colonial Heights.

With superb pitching from Justin Miller, Northern Fairfax County (NFC) won 3-0 over Vienna.

Patrick Evans, Vienna’s starting pitcher, kept a duel with Miller until the 4th inning, when NFC, with a couple of hits and a couple of miscues, scored three times.

Phillip Davine relieved Evans and allowed only one hit in 3 innings, striking out 5.

Vienna only produced 3hits in the game, from Kalib Ashcraft (1 for 3), Evans (1 for 1) and Nate Grisius (1 for 3).

Evans struck-out 7 in 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs, 2 unearned.

NFC will play tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. for the 13 District Tournament championship, at Waters Field.
