Heavy Fire Displaces 7 Residents, Kills Cat At Wolf Trap Home
According to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, one firefighter was injured, but no residents were injured.

VIENNA, VA — Seven people were displaced and a cat died as a result of a Wolf Trap house fire Tuesday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
Units responded around 6:04 p.m. to the 9700 block of Meadowlark Road to find a single-family home with heavy fire and smoke showing. Crews worked to get the fire under control, and a second alarm was requested.
No residents were injured, but a cat was found dead. Three residents had been home at the time. One observed smoke and fire coming from the basement, leading residents to evacuate. Three dogs also escaped uninjured. One firefighter had minor injuries, went to the hospital and was later released.

Investigators determined the fire started in the basement due to combustible materials too close to an operating fireplace. Damages were estimated to be $378,750.
Red Cross is assisting the seven displaced residents.
