Hypothermia Program For Homeless At Vienna Church Needs Volunteers
Vienna Presbyterian Church is one faith community site hosting the hypothermia program. It needs volunteers and donations to make it happen.
VIENNA, VA — During the winter season, rotating faith community sites in Fairfax County typically host the hypothermia program, which provides overnight shelter and food to the homeless. Vienna Presbyterian Church is scheduled to host the hypothermia program from Jan. 29 to Feb. 12 and is seeking volunteers and donations.
Vienna Presbyterian Church has been a host site for the hypothermia program for the past eight years. Fairfax County's hypothermia program is an effort to provide shelter to the homeless to ensure residents do not have to sleep outside during the colder months.
"The county shelters are often filled to capacity during the winter, and churches such as ours are offered the opportunity to help care for these brothers and sisters by sharing our facility, our love, our food, our prayers, and our fellowship with those we welcome," Vienna Presbyterian Church shares on its volunteer sign up page.

The church will provide 50 guests with meals for 14 days — that's an estimated total of 2,100 meals. To help fulfill the needs of the program, various volunteer positions are available. These include preparing food, donating food, donating items for gift bags, volunteering at the hypothermia program, or writing uplifting notes for the guests.
For those who are donating items, drop-offs will be held Sunday, Jan. 29 and Sunday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Vienna Presbyterian Church main kitchen, 124 Park St. NE, Vienna, VA.
