Jury Questionnaires Going Out To 55K Fairfax County Residents
Check your mailboxes for jury questionnaires in the next few weeks, the county says.

VIENNA, VA—Around 55,000 Fairfax County residents will receive jury questionnaires in the coming weeks, according to the county.
Potential jurors are randomly selected from voter registration lists representing "a cross section of the community." After receiving a questionnaire, residents should go to juror.fairfaxcounty.gov/login to fill it out.
Receiving a questionnaire doesn't mean you will get jury duty, however. It's the beginning of the process to identify those qualified to serve jury duty. Those determined to be qualified will receive a jury duty summons in the mail one month before they must report in court. Jurors should check the evening before the reporting date to find out if the group number on the summons should report. Those with group numbers not called are cleared of jury duty but may be summoned again in the future.

Jurors reporting for service receive orientation on their role, responsibilities and the trial process. Jurors called for service may not necessarily be selected for a trial.
Those chosen receive $30 per day for travel expenses going to the courthouse. By law employers cannot fire, demote or penalize workers for missing work for jury duty. Check with your employer for their policies on paying employees during jury duty.
