Laptop, Cell Phone Stolen In Series Of Vienna Car Break-Ins

Numerous thefts from vehicles were reported within one day.

VIENNA, VA—Vienna Police are investigating a new round of vehicle break-ins, many of which occurred within 24 hours.

Five of the break-ins happened between the afternoon or evening of April 18 and morning of April 19. A sixth break-in was reported between the evening of April 23 and morning of April 24. Among the items stolen from the vehicles were a laptop, cell phone, wine, checkbook and money.

All of the vehicles were unlocked. Police remind residents to secure their vehicles and remove valuables.

100 Block Tapawingo Road, SE
Between April 18 at 2:00 p.m. and April 19 at 7:30 a.m.
A resident reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and took her cell phone, wine, and US currency. A contractor in the area found a backpack that had been discarded that contained some of the resident’s stolen property.

100 Block Elmar Drive, SE
Between April 18 at 9:00 p.m. and April 19 at 8:00 a.m.
A resident reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it. Nothing appeared to have been taken.

Between April 18 at 9:00 p.m. and April 19 at 8:00 a.m.
A resident reported that someone stole her wallet and change purse from her unlocked vehicle

900 Block DeSale Street, SW
Between April 18 at 9:00 p.m. and April 19 at 8:30 a.m.
A resident reported that someone entered his three unlocked vehicles and stole property including sunglasses, a checkbook a laptop and other items.

Between April 18 at 9:00 p.m. and April 19 at 9:00 a.m.
An unknown person entered a resident’s unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet. The wallet was later turned in when another resident found it. (Incident #19-004145).

300 Block Holmes Drive, NW
Between April 23 at 6:00 p.m. and April 24 at 8:00 a.m.
A resident reported that an unknown person entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her backpack that contained her wallet, watch and other items.
