Local Elections and Absentee Voting Open in Vienna (ICYMI)

Vienna held town council elections Tuesday, and residents can begin voting absentee in the Virginia governor's race.

*Updated 8:05 p.m. Tuesday. Vienna town council election results) VIENNA, VA -- The next big statewide primary election is June 13, but eligible Vienna residents can begin voting absentee now.

For voters that are not able to vote in person on the Primary Election Day (June 13), absentee voting is open. The deadline to register for Election Day is coming up too.

  • May 22: Voter registration deadline 11:59 p.m. online and 5 p.m. in person (or mail postmarked by that date).
  • June 13: Primary election: 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Find your voting location online through the Virginia Department of Elections' search tool. You can vote in the Democratic primary or the Republican primary, but not both.

Absentee Voting

April 28-June 10: In-person absentee voting. You can vote in the Democratic primary or the Republican primary, but not both. View Fairfax County absentee voting locations here.

June 6: Deadline for requesting an absentee ballot.

June 13: Deadline for returning an absentee ballot.

There are no state Senate elections this year, and Del. Mark Keam (D) is unopposed in the primary.

In other news, the Town of Vienna held elections Tuesday, May 2 for three open Town Council Seats. Three incumbents, Councilmembers Carey Sienicki, Howard Springsteen and Tara Voigt ran unopposed and were re-elected.
