Man Driving Truck Stops to Ask Middle Schooler for Phone Number: Police

Police: Man awakens to find man sleeping in living room, naked man yells at neighborhood children, woman returns home to burglar in house.

The following incident were reported Friday by Town of Vienna Police:

Telephone Threats 15-009346 300 Block Surveyors Court, SW September 25 2:30 a.m. A resident reported his son had been bullied by another boy while attending a party in Sterling, Virginia. He stated when he telephoned the father of the bully, the father began to use profanity and curse at the resident.

MPO Vazquez informed him of the warrant process should he wish to pursue charges.

Arrest – Probation Violation/Alcohol/Narcotic Violation 15-009322 Park Terrace Court, SE September 25 11:26 a.m. Officer Herrera responded to the area for the report of juveniles smoking in the stairway of the building. Upon arriving at the building he encountered a juvenile and his girlfriend who were attempting to conceal themselves from him.

Officer Herrera was aware the male juvenile was wanted on an active Detention Order. As he attempted to approach the juveniles they fled on foot. The male juvenile was able to make his escape, but was soon apprehended by Lt. Taylor a short distance from where the foot pursuit began.

Officer Herrera responded to Lt. Taylor’s location and took the juvenile into custody. While preparing him for transport he located a measurable amount of marijuana and discovered he had been consuming alcohol.

The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Intake Center. Due to his consumption of alcohol he was required to take him to an area medical facility to be medically cleared. After being cleared he was returned to the Juvenile Intake Center where he was held on the Detention Order, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Alcohol.

Arrest – Assault on Police Officer/Obstruction of Justice/ 15-009330, 15-009335 Park Terrace Court, SE September 25 11:26 a.m. Officer Herrera responded to the area for the report of juveniles smoking in the stairway of the building. Upon arriving at the building he encountered a juvenile and his girlfriend who were attempting to conceal themselves from him.

Officer Herrera was aware the male juvenile was wanted on an Active Detention Order (See Incident Number 15-009335 above). As he attempted to approach both juveniles they fled on foot. The male was able to make his getaway. The female slowed and gave up her attempt to flee. Officer Herrera attempted to place the female in handcuffs when she began to actively resist and assaulted the officer.

She was eventually secured and placed into a police cruiser and transported to the Juvenile Intake Center where she was charged with Assault on a Police Officer.

Found Property 15-009327 Highland Street at Lincoln Street, NW September 25 1:59 p.m. A resident responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in a wallet he had found in the area of Highland Street and Lincoln Street, NW.

Lt. Forges was able to contact the owner of the wallet, who responded to the police station to retrieve her wallet.

Suspicious Event 15-009328 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE September 25 2:50 p.m. A student of Thoreau Middle School reported as she was walking to school a Hispanic man, driving a black car or truck, approached her and asked her for her telephone number.

The student ran to the school and reported the incident to the police.

Suspicious Event 15-009518 900 Block Ware Street, SW Between September 25 at 6:32 p.m. and September 30 at 6:53 p.m. A resident reported a vehicle was being driven in a reckless manner in the 900 Block of Ware Street, SW. He stated he ran towards the vehicle and a heated argument ensued between the driver and the resident. He stated the driver then began do drive away slowly while taunting him.

The resident stated the driver had driven by on other occasions and would slow down and blow the horn. On another occasion the resident ran towards the vehicle and another heated exchange occurred. He stated the driver attempted to run him over as he left the area. The resident provided the license information of the vehicle to MPO Vazquez.

MPO Vazquez was able to locate the driver of the vehicle who stated he was also going to file a police report based on the behavior of the resident. The driver stated he felt the incident was a misunderstanding and wished to contact the resident to resolve the matter peacefully.

MPO Vazquez returned to the resident and explained the results of his conversation with the driver. The resident seemed pleased with the outcome.

Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated/Refusal 15-009350 300 Block Courthouse Road, SW September 25 11:40 p.m. Officer Slebonick was on patrol when he observed the driver of a vehicle commit a traffic offense. As a result of that offense he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the signs of possible impairment. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests he arrested the 32 year old woman from Oakton, Virginia for Driving While Intoxicated.

Officer Slebonick transported the woman to the Vienna Police Station where she was given the opportunity to submit a sample of her blood for analysis. Once at the police station she refused to provide the sample. She was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test.

She was to be held until she was sober.

Animal Case 15-009366 300 Block Broadleaf Drive, NE September 26 8:00 a.m. Officer Herrera responded to the area after receiving the report of a dog running at large. Upon his arrival in the area he located a small, black and white Boston Terrier running loose without a collar.

With no means of identifying the owner Officer Herrera transported the dog to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. The owner contacted the police department a short time later and was informed how to retrieve his dog.

Police Service 15-009372 Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South September 26 11:40 a.m. A resident responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in an unwanted handgun for destruction.

Police Service 15-009377 Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South September 26 1:36 p.m. A resident responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in unwanted rifles and ammunition for destruction.

Arrest - Tobacco Violation 15-009378 500 Block Windover Avenue, NW September 26 2:04 p.m. Officer Herrera was on patrol when he observed a vehicle occupied by several juveniles who appeared to be smoking cigarettes. Upon his approach to the vehicle he recognized the juveniles from past encounters. After further interaction he found two of the juveniles to be in possession of cigarettes. He issued the two juveniles summonses for Possession of Tobacco.

They were released after signing their summonses.

Missing Person 15-009381 300 Block Old Courthouse Road, NE September 26 4:44 p.m. A resident reported her elderly husband had wandered off and had not been seen in approximately three hours.

Officer Herrera contacted the employees at Jammin Java, a business he frequents when he takes his walks. An employee stated he was last observed walking westbound on Maple Avenue towards Fairfax County.

Case Update:

At approximately 9:00 p.m. the missing adult was located near his home. His wife responded to the area and the two were reunited.

Domestic Dispute 15-009408 Ayr Hill Avenue, NE September 27 12:50 a.m. A resident reported that his son had left the house after the two became involved in a heated argument. The father was concerned as his son had left the house wearing only shorts and a T- Shirt. At approximately 9:20 p.m. the son safely returned home.

Natural Death 15-009418 400 Block Center Street, South September 27 6:00 a.m. A Hospice Nurse discovered her elderly patient had passed away. Officer Herrera responded and determined the elderly patient had recently been released from an area hospital.

Found Property 15-009430 300 Block Mill Street, NE September 27 1:05 p.m. Officer Tremont responded to the area after a citizen reported finding miscellaneous clothing and letters by a dumpster.

The items were taken to the address on the letters and given to the apartment building concierge to be returned to the owner.

Computer Fraud 15-009432 200 Block Park Terrace Court, SE September 27 2:05 p.m. A resident reported her ex-boyfriend had hacked into her telephone and personal computer accounts.

This case is being investigated.

Arrest - Attempted Burglary 15-009435 200 Block Patrick Street, SW September 27 2:28 p.m. Officer Herrera responded to the area for the report of a possible domestic situation involving a man and woman. Upon arriving he located the two individuals in the wooded area near Cottage Street, SW.

After speaking with witnesses in the area it was determined the two were boyfriend and girlfriend. The two had been involved in an argument that turned physical. After the physical altercation the female ran to a neighbor’s house for safety and requested they call the police.

The boyfriend attempted to gain entry into the residence and another physical altercation occurred between one of the homeowners and the boyfriend.

After speaking with the boyfriend and girlfriend they each declined to pursue charges for the assault. The homeowner informed Officer Herrera he would pursue charges against the man for the Attempted Burglary and the Assault.

Officer Herrera transported the 19 year old man from Poplar Tree Road in Chantilly, Virginia to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Attempted Burglary and Assault.

Suspicious Event 15-009442 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE September 28 5:52 a.m. MPO Seitz responded to a residence after the resident reported he awoke to find an unknown Hispanic man sleeping in his living room. After speaking with the man it was determined he was intoxicated and entered the residence by mistake.

The resident did not wish to pursue charges and the man was escorted by MPO Seitz to his residence.

Juvenile Case 15-009458 Lynn Street, SW September 28 between 6:00 a.m. and 9:19 p.m. Officer Post responded to the area after a resident reported his son skipped school, left the house and had not returned.

MPO Nelson also responded and after being provided a photograph of the son, he recognized a friend in one of the pictures from previous encounters. MPO Nelson responded to the friend’s house and located the missing juvenile. He was transported back to his home and reunited with his father.

Burglary 15-009445 100 Block Harmony Drive, SE September 28 11:48 a.m. A resident reported she returned home to find an unknown man in her home. She stated when the man saw her he pushed her against a wall and fled from the residence.

The burglar was described as a white male, approximately six feet tall, in his mid-twenties, with short brown hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a white T-Shirt.

This case is being investigated.

Arrest – Indecent Exposure 15-009451 200 Block Lewis Street, NW September 28 4:14 p.m. Officer Hylinski responded to the area after residents reported a naked man was standing outside yelling at the neighborhood children. Upon arriving he was met by MPO Shaver and PFC Lyons who had the man seated on the ground.

The man stated he and his girlfriend had been involved in an argument that culminated with him leaving the house completely naked.

Officer Hylinski transported the 22 year old man from West Meredith Drive in Vienna to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Indecent Exposure and held on a $2500.00 bond.

Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 15-009453 100 Block Melody Lane, SW September 28 6:11 p.m. Officer Post responded to the area after receiving a report of a possible drunk driver who had pulled into a driveway. Upon her interaction with the driver she detected the signs of possible impairment. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests she arrested the 49 year old woman from Melody Lane in Vienna for Driving While Intoxicated.

The woman was transported to the Vienna Police Station where she was given the opportunity to provide a sample of her breath for analysis. After the analysis she was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Fraud 15-009454 900 Block Glyndon Street, SE September 28 6:26 p.m. A resident reported his financial institution informed him of a possible attempt to fraudulently transfer funds from his and his wife’s account into another account.

This case is being investigated.

Arrest – Drunk in Public 15-009456 Nutley Street at Windover Avenue, NW September 28 7:59 p.m. MPO Nelson responded to the area for the report of an individual lying on the side of the road. Upon arriving he located the individual lying in the ditch by the Stop Sign. After awaking him he determined he was intoxicated.

MPO Nelson arrested the 29 year old man from Layton Hall Road in Fairfax, Virginia for Drunk in Public. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.

Medical Case 15-009481 Westview Court, NE September 29 2:05 p.m. A resident reported that her sister had not been taking her medication and she was afraid she would harm herself.

Officer Hylinski transported the woman to an area hospital where she was evaluated by a doctor and returned home.

Arrest - Drunk in Public 15-009487 Wendy’s 411 Maple Avenue, East September 29 6:10 p.m.

An employee reported another employee reported to work and began being disruptive. She stated she asked the employee to leave but he refused.

Officer Post responded and found the employee in the kitchen. After speaking with the employee she determined he was intoxicated.

The 32 year old man from Tolura Lake in Talura Lake, California was arrested for Drunk in Public and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.

Arrest – Warrant Service 15-009502 200 Block Park Terrace Court, SE September 30 8:58 a.m. MPO Smith responded to a residence after receiving information that a resident was wanted on a warrant for a probation violation. MPO Smith located the individual inside his apartment. While speaking with the individual a measurable amount of marijuana was also located.

MPO Smith arrested the 19 year old man from Park Terrace Court, SE in Vienna for Revocation of a Suspended Sentence and Possession of Marijuana. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond.

Assault 15-009514 AT&T Store 211 Maple Avenue, East September 30 6:20 p.m. MPO Vazquez responded to the AT&T Store after an employee and a customer telephoned the Vienna Police Department to report an assault had occurred. Upon arriving and speaking with the individuals involved, the officer learned the dispute started after the customer did not receive the cellphone accessories he was promised.

The verbal argument escalated when two employees attempted to physically remove the customer from the store. The customer stated the employees pushed him towards the door, causing an abrasion to his arm. The employees stated the customer pushed them and the abrasion was self-inflicted.

MPO Vazquez informed the employees and the customer of the warrant process should they decide to pursue the case. The employee requested the customer be informed he was no longer permitted in the business. The customer was informed of the Trespassing Law.

Suspicious Event 15-009528 100 Block Elmar Drive, SE October 01 8:11 a.m. A resident reported he discovered the door to his Recreational Vehicle (RV) was open. He stated he believed the door had been locked the last time he checked on the RV. The resident and Officer Tremont checked the inside of the RV and found nothing appeared to have been disturbed or taken.

There were no signs of forced entry to the door.

Medical Case 15-009539 Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW October 01 12:27 p.m. An employee reported a student left the school grounds without permission. Officer Herrera responded and located the student in the area of Desale Street and Casmar Street, SW. He returned the student back to the school and into the principal’s office. Once inside the office he made statements to harm himself and others.

Officer Herrera transported the student to an area hospital where he was evaluated and received treatment.

Suspicious Event 15-009541 Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW October 01 1:25 p.m.

An employee reported a student had threatened him with bodily injury. Officer Tremont responded and spoke with the student, who suffers from a mental disability.

The student stated he was sorry and did not mean the threat. Officer Tremont counselled the student on his actions and the trouble they could cause.

Police Service 15-009545 100 Block Woodview Circle, SW October 01 3:28 p.m. Officer Tremont responded to a residence to check on the welfare of the resident. Upon arriving and speaking with the resident he determined she and her husband were safe.

Medical Case 15-009547 Navy Federal Credit Union 820 Follin Lane, SE October 01 5:20 p.m. Officer Herrera responded to the Navy Federal Credit Union after an employee reported another employee had made statements that he wanted to harm himself and other employees. After speaking with the employee Officer Herrera transported him to an area hospital where he could be evaluated.
