FALLS CHURCH, VA — Live theatre is back at Marshall High School after nearly two years. Statesmen Theatre will present William Shakespeare’s comedy "A Midsummer Night’s Dream from Nov. 11 to 13.

"The pandemic shut down in-person performances for almost two tough years," stated
Marshall theatre director Bernie DeLeo. "After such a grim time, my primary goal this fall was to
get back on stage with something FUN, that the student actors, crew & audience members
would all have a good time experiencing. Rehearsals have certainly been a gas, and it’s been
rewarding seeing students rediscover their creative passions – and just plain laugh with their
friends again after school."

The play follows four young lovers who get involved in a quarrel with fairies of the forest. Although the original play setting was ancient Athens, Greece, this production takes place in Athens, Georgia in the early 1980s, where the alt-rock music scene created the success of bands like R.E.M. and the B-52s. Marshall's take on the comedy includes "bumbling actors, a donkey head, and a mangled play- within-a-play," according to a news release. The play runs for approximately two hours.
