Maryland Town Council Member Breaks Into Fairfax Home: Police

A Maryland Town Council member thought he was entering an acquaintance's home, Fairfax County Police say.

Fairfax County Police have charged a Bladensburg, Md. Town Council member of breaking into a Fairfax home.

Selwyn Bridgeman, 41, is charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into the wrong home in January. Residents in the 12200 block of Pender Creek Circle notified police on Jan. 30 that money was missing from their apartment. They told police their dog alerted them to a man standing outside their home. The man left when confronted, and they realized the next morning that money was missing.

Investigations revealed Bridgeman as the suspect and that he was trying to visit an acquaintance at that apartment complex. He entered the unlocked unit after no one answered the door. After the homeowners confronted him, Bridgeman realized he was at the wrong home and left.
