Meadowlark's Winter Walk of Lights Opens This Week

The Winter Walk of Lights returns for a ninth year and will implement pandemic-related safety measures.

VIENNA, VA — For the ninth year, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens will light up for the holiday season.

Winter Walk of Lights will open for the season on Wednesday Nov. 11 and run through Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021. The gardens will be illuminated for visitors to follow a one-way half-mile route. Hours are 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Nov. 11 to Dec. 11 and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Dec. 12 to Jan. 3. The last admission time is 9:15 p.m.

Aside from the half-mile walk, there will be a Snowflake Shoppe and Garden Gift Shop for souvenirs, and the Snack Shop will offer hot chocolate, coffee, hot cider and sweet treats. Fire pits will not be available for the season. The Park Street Food Truck will be on site to offer hot dogs, fries, funnel cakes and more on Nov. 28 and 29, Dec. 5 and 6, and between Dec. 12 and 31.

Winter Walk of Lights will operate with safety precautions in place due to the pandemic. Face coverings are required, and visitors will be asked to maintain six feet of distancing. Buildings and restrooms will be open, but access may be restricted based on required capacity limits. Portable toilets will be provided in the parking lot and the halfway point of the walk. Restrooms and high-touch areas will undergo regular sanitization.

Tickets purchased online are encouraged, and walk-up tickets will be available in limited quantities. Visitors are asked to remain in vehicles until their ticket time and practice social distancing in lines.

Nova Parks will also bring back the Bull Run Festival of Lights in Centreville and Winter Village at Cameron Run in Alexandria.
