MPO Kenneth Smith Receives Rotary's 'Service Above Self' Officer of the Year Award

Master Police Officer (MPO) Kenneth “Ken” Smith has received the 2014 Rotary Club of Vienna, Rotarian M. Jane Seeman “Service Above Self” Officer of the Year Award.

He was presented with the award last week at a banquet, held at the Westwood Country Club, to honor public servants of the Town of Vienna. MPO Smith’s award is given annually to a member of the Vienna Police Department whose motivation, commitment and service to the community exemplifies the Rotary Club’s motto of “Service above Self.”

In her letter of nomination, Sgt. Juelharte wrote “MPO Smith’s work ethic is never motivated by a desire to serve himself. He cares for Vienna and truly believes in making a difference in the lives of our citizens. MPO Smith enjoys mentoring younger officers and cares about their success above his own. He fosters an atmosphere of teamwork that the officers respond to and genuinely cares about the squad as a team.”

MPO Smith was recently chosen to spearhead a newly created position as the Intel Liaison Officer for the Vienna Police Department.
