The United States celebrated the first National Ice Cream Day in 1984. We celebrate the sweet treat thanks to former President Ronald Reagan, who wanted to commemorate the treat enjoyed by most Americans.

The top flavor in Virginia: chocolate. Coming in second place was rocky road, followed by Neapolitan and cookie dough. Coffee rounded out the top five.
