Oak Marr RECenter Ribbon Cutting Set for Oct. 18

For the past few weeks, patrons at Oak Marr RECenter have been getting a feel for the recently updated and expanded facility, according to a news release from Fairfax County. Here’s more about it, from the release:

It’s part of the “soft opening” that allows staff and visitors to work out any possible kinks prior to the official ribbon cutting celebration scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. That’s when local officials, members of the Fairfax County Park Authority Board, Oak Marr members and local residents, as well as site staff will gather for remarks followed by the cutting of a large red ribbon. Oak Marr RECenter is located 3200 Jermantown Road in Oakton.

Oak Marr RECenter has seen significant transformations since opening in 1988, but none as sweeping as the expansion of the fitness center. Now Oakton area residents have a top-tier fitness facility and a modern expanded location for new classes and programs. Manager Kirt Chase said, “For the past 12 months we have been watching our new expansion being built from the ground up, and now we are excited to see the public’s reaction to our new state-of-the-art facility.”

The finished project includes:

• A new, two-story, 5,500 square-foot fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment
• A dedicated stretching area in the fitness center
• Three new multipurpose rooms for fitness classes and other activities
• An expanded fitness center entry area with cubbies
• A 700-square-foot babysitting area with a restroom
• An updated lobby and administration area
• A new entrance to improve facility access and security

The public is cordially invited to the mid-October event at the RECenter. The site will feature free admission, tours of the facility, free coupons for a seven-day trial, and guest passes to give to a friend.
