Opening Date Set for Ted's Bulletin in Mosaic District

matchboxfoodgroup has announced an opening date for their latest expansion of Ted’s BULLETIN in the Mosaic District, (2910 District Avenue Fairfax, VA 22031).

The group’s popular family restaurant concept with two locations in Washington DC (and one just opened in Reston) will open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily beginning on Monday, Oct. 6, promptly at 7 a.m. Here’s more about the opening and the restaurant from the news release:

The new location brings Ted’s classic American cooking served up against a vintage 1930s backdrop to the modern and growing Mosaic District. Directly across from the lush and spacious Strawberry Park, the new Ted’s will feature the familiar dining room that deploys antique-style bulletin boards and old timey fixtures.

The oversized projection screen showing cartoons and family shows from the 1930s and ‘40s will be present in the dining room while the Mosaic District’s large outdoor screen can be viewed from a grassy seat out front. The dining room will accommodate a total of 125 seats. An outdoor patio with eight tables will accommodate 24 guests for al fresco dining. Additionally, counter seating will be available at the bar and in front of the shake station.

With something for everyone on the menu, this new location is ideal for grabbing drinks, celebrating a special occasion, or enjoying a family dinner. Named after the late father of sibling business partners Mark and Ty Neal, the real Ted was known for his hospitality and often offered soup and sandwiches to postal workers, neighbors and visitors that stopped by his home.

Executive Chef Kori Azarkhish will dish out hearty American comfort foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner including entrees like beer-battered cod served with tater tots, meatloaf with Mingo County ketchup glaze and buttermilk country fried steak.

The menu also includes unique takes on old standbys like Drew’s peanut butter bacon burger, named for partner Drew Kim.

Behind the counter, master baristas serve up high quality Swing’s coffee and espresso beverages while shake-tenders create a variety of delicious milkshakes, some of which can even include booze, such as the buzzed berries.

Upon first opening in DC in July 2010, Ted’s BULLETIN quickly became a DC favorite, serving boozy milkshakes and homemade “pop-tarts,” which put them on the map as a must-try restaurant. The Merrifield location will continue this tradition while new Executive Pastry Chef Todd Miller offers updated classics in the expanded bakery, including the towering double chocolate devil’s food cake and fluffy pink sno-balls.

The kid friendly restaurant will host nightly dinner specials to include Monday pasta nights, burger basket specials on Tuesdays and TV dinner meals on Thursdays.

Ty Neal explained that after seeing the positive response in the Mosaic District with their matchbox restaurant, they decided to further expand Ted’s. “We saw the potential in the Mosaic District early on and have been successful in opening matchbox so we couldn’t turn down an opportunity to bring Ted’s into the neighborhood.”

Ted’s BULLETIN is open Sunday-Thursday from 7 am – 10:30 pm, Friday and Saturday from 7 am – 11:30 pm and breakfast is available all day. Ample garage and street parking available. Metro accessible from the Orange Line at Dunn Loring station.
