Overnight Explosion at Shell Station Awakens Vienna Community

An explosion at the James Madison Shell station near Maple Street West in Vienna rocked local residents early Friday morning.

The explosion, which occurred shortly after midnight according to multiple media reports, was followed by a fire that authorities were able to swiftly contain.

Witnesses and other residents are claiming they could feel the explosion as far as a mile away from the gas station.

No injuries have been reported in the aftermath of the explosion and ensuing fire. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion as of time of publication.
