OAKTON, VA—Some concerned residents in Oakton "gave a hoot" when an owl had a mishap on Friday, Nov. 30.

Fairfax County Police told NBC Washington residents had called about an owl that struck the ground near Vale Road in Oakton. The bird apparently had been flying toward something but ended up hitting the ground instead.

Police believe the owl "got the angle of attack wrong while diving." Animal Protection Officer Jennifer Milburn responded to the scene and helped the creature. Animal Protection Police are trained to respond to reports of sick or injured wildlife.
