'Peace Like a River' Art Exhibit To Open At Vienna Church
Visitors can stop by Church of the Good Shepherd to see the work, including during the Puppy Nativity event.

VIENNA, VA - From The Church of The Good Shepard: “Peace Like a River,” an exhibit of mixed media paintings by artist Alice Nodine, will open Saturday, Nov. 17 in The Gallery at The Church of the Good Shepherd (United Methodist) in Vienna. A special opening reception will be held that day from 1 to 3 p.m. The exhibit will run through Sunday, Dec. 16 in the gallery located at 2351 Hunter Mill Road in Vienna.
Nodine, the former longtime editor of the Northern Virginia arts magazine élan, said she began “her creative journey during a time of intense personal upheaval.” Through her immersion in art, she said she has “experienced a profound sense of healing and restoration.”
In tandem with Nodine’s pursuit of art, she has been intentional about spending time in nature, which has inspired her artwork.

“The incredible beauty and symmetry that I have observed in forests, streambeds and rocks have inspired the patterns, hues and surface treatments of my mixed media paintings,” she said. “The mixed media art form is especially conducive to generating a spirit of renewal. I find that the hours I spend absorbed in the creative process sustain and restore me and enable me to cope with life’s inevitable strains.”
Pastor Eric Song said “using art for spiritual renewal is such a blessing to us,” and “it is great that Alice’s work is being displayed at The Church of the Good Shepherd to inspire others.”
