Pedestrian, Falls Church Man, Dies After He Is Struck by Car in Merrifield

A Falls Church man, Leroy Jewell, died Wednesday after he was struck by a car.

Around 7 a.m., on Wednesday, Jewell was attempting to cross from the west-side of Gallows Road to the east-side at Belleforest Drive when he was struck by a 2010 Toyota Corolla in the roadway. 

The area is close to the Dunn Loring Merrifield metro station.

The driver of the Corolla remained at the scene. Jewell was transported to a local hospital where he died, according to Fairfax County Police.

The crash remains under investigation but speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
