Pedestrian Hit On Maple Avenue: Vienna Crime Report
The latest Vienna crime report includes a pedestrian crash on Maple Avenue and hit-and-run involving downed power lines.
VIENNA, VA — A pedestrian was hit on Maple Avenue on Tuesday, Jan. 14, according to the latest crime report from the Vienna Police Department.
The crash happened around 4:58 p.m. in the 200 block of Maple Avenue. Police say a pedestrian was crossing the road outside a crosswalk in between stopped vehicles when a vehicle heading west in the center turn lane struck him. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and charges have not been announced.
Another crash within the last week did result in charges. The hit-and-run crash involving a downed power pole happened around 10:24 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 in the 500 block of Hillcrest Drive SW. Police say a driver heading north on Hillcrest Drive went off the road and struck a utility pole. The pole fell onto the vehicle, also leading to downed power lines.

The three occupants of the vehicle fled before police arrived, but officers conducted a search and found the driver. The driver, a 21-year-old man from Reston, was charged with hit and run and was released on his signature.
