Phone Scam Targets Residents In Vienna
The scam callers try to sell services like health insurance. Here's what the Town of Vienna says you need to do.

VIENNA, VA—The Town of Vienna is warning residents about a phone scam targeting local residents. Officials say anyone that receives a scam call should report it.
The scam involves a person trying to sell a product or service such as health care under false pretenses. The scammers spoof the Town of Vienna's phone number to make it look like the calls come from the town government. A number of resident have notified officials of the scam.
The Town of Vienna reminds residents it does not call residents to sell products or services. Under federal law, it is illegal to attempt selling something using a person or organization's name under false pretenses. Report these incidents to the Town by calling 703-255-5725 or emailing ITHelp@viennava.gov.

The Town will report these incidents to the FCC, but it requires some key information about the call:
- Name of resident contacted
- Phone number of resident
- Spoofed number that appears on caller ID
- Name shown by caller ID
- Date and time of the call
- Details on what the scammer was trying to sell or asked the resident to do
