Police: Passenger Assaults Metrobus Driver

Victim was taken to hospital after bus was pulled over on Maple Avenue during Thursday morning's rush hour.

VIENNA, VA -- Vienna police pulled over a Metrobus on Thursday morning after a passenger assaulted the vehicle's driver, according to a police spokesman.

The incident happened at about 8 a.m. on Maple Avenue (Route 123), the town's main thoroughfare, said Officer Patrick Kiley, a Vienna police spokesman.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospitalwith non-life threatening injuries, WJLA-TV Channel 7 reported.

Vienna police officers calmed the situation down until Metro transit police arrived on the scene, Kiley said. The Metro police have taken over the investigation of the incident, since they have jurisdiction over all Metro vehicles, he added.
