'Pride of Vienna' Marching Band Preparing for Loaded Competition Season
So far James Madison High School's marching band has lined up competitions in Annapolis, Newark, Del. and possibly Atlanta.

James Madison High School’s “Pride of Vienna” marching band is preparing for its competition season this fall, which includes a trip to compete against marching bands from throughout the Southeast in Atlanta next month.
The marching band will first compete in the U.S. Band and Marine Corp Invitational in Annapolis, Md., on Sept. 26 and again in the Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional on Oct. 17 in Neward, Del. If Madison does well enough in the Mid-Atlantic Regional, it will advance to the Super Regional competition in Atlanta.
Led by band director Michael Hackbarth, the “Pride of Vienna” is a two-time winner of the Sudler Flag of Honor, awarded annually by the John Phillip Sousa Foundation to a band program that has both achieved and maintained a high standard of musical excellence.
