Road Rage Driver Hits Woman In Vienna: Police

The driver reportedly harassed the woman and struck her with his car before fleeing the scene.

Police arrested a Falls Church man that reportedly assaulted and hit another driver with his car last week in Vienna.

Around 5:25 p.m. on Friday June 1, a woman had been driving in the 800 block of Maple Avenue East when she encountered the driver. He allowed her to merge into the right lane but pulled up to the sidewalk and hit her side mirror with his hand, police say.

He pulled back into traffic behind the woman, who got out to tell him to leave her alone. At that time, he sped away and struck her. The woman was not injured.

The next day, police obtained a warrant for arrest. The the 58-year-old man was charged with assault and turned himself in to the Vienna Police Department. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and released on his signature.

Assist Fire and EMS 18-004556

May 31 2:30 p.m.

Officers responded to assist the fire department with an odor of gas coming from one of the
condominium units. Fire personnel forced entry into the unit where they found the gas on the
stove top was on, causing the odor. A female resident was transported to an area hospital with
non-life-threatening issues for both medical and mental evaluation.

Vienna Elementary School
128 Center Street, South
May 31 11:59 p.m.

Ofc. Rohr was traveling on Center Street when she observed flames coming from a utility pole in
front of the school. Officers immediately shut the road down while personnel from the fire
department and Dominion Power responded to extinguish the fire. It appeared the fire was caused
by lightning striking the lines.

Animal Case – Quarantine 18-004578

1200 Block Ware Street, SW
June 1 8:00 a.m.

A resident was walking on the sidewalk near his home. As a woman walking her dog passed him,
the dog bit him on the left side of the stomach. He described the dog as small, brown and white.
The resident did not get the dog owner’s information; therefore, rabies inoculation could not be
verified. ACO Barker suggested the resident seek a doctor’s treatment for the wound. ACO Barker
is also following up with the Fairfax County Health Department on the incident.

June 1 3:38 p.m.

A resident reported that a man entered her home posing as one of the construction workers who
was working on her house. She observed the man in her bedroom and confronted him. The man
quickly left the home, taking some of the resident’s jewelry. The man is described as a white male,
early 20’s, 6’0 tall, thin build, with a blonde ponytail and goatee, a navy blue half sleeve tattoo on
his left arm, and driving a silver or gray sedan.

100 Block Kingsley Road, SE
June 7 10:00 a.m.

A resident was contacted by a man claiming to be a public defender. This man advised the
resident’s grandson had been arrested in another state. The man stated that the resident needed to
wire money to him immediately to cover his services in representing his grandson. After wiring
the money, the resident found his grandson was at work and that this was a fraudulent call. This
case is being investigated.

Crash - 500 Block Yeonas Drive, SW 18-004623

June 3 4:54 p.m.
A resident observed damage to his yard where it appeared a driver lost control, ran their vehicle
off the road and onto his front lawn, then left the scene.
