Teen Driver Crashes Are Scarce Near Vienna
A new map released by Fairfax County shows that roads near Vienna have been pretty safe in 2016, at least when it comes to teen drivers.

VIENNA, VA -- In Fairfax County, 1,840 young drivers were involved in crashes last year, and only a few have been near Vienna.
A new map from the county appears to show six crashes near city limits.
One of the county's two fatalities occurred near Vienna. A 20-year-old driver was speeding, lost control and hit a speed limit sign and two trees. The driver was wearing a seatbelt but died as a result of the collision.
Last year two drivers were killed, and 17 percent were injured.

Fortunately, in 97 percent of cases, teen drivers were wearing seat belts, and in only 2 percent of cases was alcohol involved. Also, the total number of 17- and 18-year-old drivers involved in crashes has declined by almost 100 occurrences compared to 2015, according to the county.
No roads near Vienna made the "10 Most Dangerous Roadways for Youth Drivers" list. The most dangerous roads for teen drivers are:
