On-Time Graduation Data Released: How Madison High School Did
Reports from the Virginia Department of Education show the school's on-time graduation rates compared to the district and state.
VIENNA, VA — Madison High School continues to outperform the school district and state for on-time graduation rates, according to data released by the Virginia Department of Education Tuesday.
The school's on-time graduation rate for the 2018-2019 school year was 97.2 percent, similar to the year prior. By comparison, Fairfax County Public Schools overall had a 91.3 percent on-time graduation rate and Virginia had 91.5 percent.
The school also outperformed the school district and state among some subgroups of students. Among students with disabilities, 97.9 percent graduated on time, compared to 92.1 percent in the district and 88.5 percent in Virginia. The 76.5 percent of English language learners graduating on time outpaced the district's 67.7 percent and state's 71.1 percent.

Economically disadvantaged students had an 86.6 percent on-time graduation rate, similar to the district and state percentages.
All Asian and black students, which make up 14.2 percent and 1.9 percent of the student population, respectively, graduated on time. Among Hispanic students, 79.7 percent graduated on time, a percentage higher than the district's but lower than the state's 80.1 percent average. 99.4 percent of white students graduated on time.

Madison High School had 538 students enrolled in 12th grade during the last school year. The student population is 64.7 percent white, 14.2 percent Asian, 12 percent Hispanic, 7.1 percent with mixed races, and 1.9 percent black. At Madison, 11.6 percent of students have disabilities, 10.7 percent are economically disadvantaged and 8.4 percent are English learners.
The Madison High School class of 2019 had 81.4 percent with advanced diplomas, 15.8 percent with standard or other diplomas and 2.6 percent of students who dropped out.
