Too Much Cheese? Police Respond to Scuffle Between Pizza Employees

Plus catalytic converters stolen, cat dies, loud customer at drug store. The latest crime report for Vienna, courtesy of the Vienna Police.

The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from Jan. 16, 2015 – Jan. 22, 2015. Readers are reminded that an “arrest” is based upon probable cause and does not always mean that someone was physically taken into custody. Furthermore, it does not mean that an individual is automatically guilty of a crime. Judicial outcomes and post-arrest proceedings can be researched through the appropriate court’s website.

INCIDENTS

Fraud 15-000676 1100 Block Pekay Street, SW August 15, 2014 12:00 p.m. A resident reported he had been informed by the Internal Revenue Service that someone had filed a fraudulent income tax return in his name.

This case is being investigated.

Fraud 15-000733 800 Block Sharaam Court, SE Between October 29, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. and January 13 at 12:00 p.m. A resident reported he had received a telephone call from a credit card company informing him that several charges had been made to his GameStop Credit Card and he owed an outstanding balance. The resident informed the bank he has never had a GameStop Credit Card.

This case is being investigated.

Disorderly Conduct 15-000486 Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW January 16 9:54 a.m.

An employee reported that a student became disorderly during a meeting. During the meeting the student pushed the employee and attempted to strike another employee. Officer Herrera and MPO Smith responded and were able to take control of the student.

This case is being investigated.

Animal Case 15-000488 1200 Block Cottage Street, SW January 16 11:20 a.m. ACO Barker responded to the area for the report of a cat that appeared to have been hit by a car.

The deceased cat was transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.

Assault 15-000496 Dominos Pizza 331 Maple Avenue, East January 16 7:30 p.m. An employee reported he and another employee had been involved in a heated argument that escalated when they began pushing and striking each another.

Officer Slebonick responded and after speaking with both employees he informed them of the warrant process should the wish to pursue charges.

Found Property 15-000670 The Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South January 18 12:00 p.m.

An unknown citizen responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in a Virginia License Plate that had been found.

Officer Tremont was able to determine the owner of the license plate and returned it to the owner.

Suspicious Person 15-000571 7-11 537 Maple Avenue, West January 18 1:26 p.m.

MPO Smith was on patrol when he observed the driver of a vehicle exhibiting suspicious behavior. As a result of that behavior he conducted a traffic stop. After speaking with the driver he determined no criminal activity had occurred.

Arrest – Narcotics Violation 15-000580 James Madison Drive at Windover Avenue, NW January 18 2:48 p.m. Officer Herrera was on patrol when he observed a vehicle with an equipment violation. As a result of that violation he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he located a measurable amount of marijuana. Officer Herrera also discovered the driver had been driving on a suspended Virginia Operator’s License.

Officer Herrera issued summonses to Mr. Brandon Jamar Buck, 29, of Chain Bridge Road in Vienna for Possession of Marijuana and Driving on a Suspended Operator’s License.

Mr. Buck was released after signing both summonses.

Trespassing 15-000608 Rite Aid Drug Store 215 Maple Avenue, West January 19 3:58 p.m.

An employee reported that a female customer had entered the store and began yelling and cursing at the employees and refused to leave when asked. The female left the store prior to the arrival of the police.

PFC Lyons responded and located the woman in the parking lot. After speaking with her she was informed not to return to the Rite Aid. She stated she understood and left the area without further incident.

Missing Juvenile 15-000611 Aponi Road, SE January 19 5:15 p.m. A resident reported that after having an argument with her daughter the daughter left the residence without her permission.

Officers responded to the area and while searching for the daughter a neighbor, who was also searching for the girl, located her on the W&OD Trail next to the Whole Foods Store.

The mother responded to the area and took her daughter home.

Suspicious Event 15-000667 200 Block Battle Street, SW January 20 8:30 p.m. A resident reported that someone had walked up onto her front porch and shook the handle to the front door. The resident was unable to provide a description of the person.

Officer Tremont informed the resident to call the police immediately when these types of incidents occur.

Police Service 15-000662 The Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South January 21 9:40 a.m.

A resident responded to the Vienna Police Station to report that her son had been skipping school and coming home late.

Officer Tremont spoke with the resident and informed her he would speak to the School Resource Officer at her son’s school to follow up with the truancy issues.

Petit Larceny 15-000737 County Transmissions, Inc. 320 Dominion Road, NE Between January 21 at 3:00 p.m. and January 22 at 4:00 p.m. An employee reported a Catalytic Converter had been stolen from a vehicle parked near the W&OD Trail.

Grand Larceny 15-000693 Frames Automotive 340 Mill Street, NE January 21 6:01 p.m.

An employee reported that after returning to his vehicle at the end of the day he discovered someone had stolen the Catalytic Converter from the vehicle.

This case is being investigated.

Suspicious Event 15-000704 500 Block Princeton Terrace, SW January 22 12:18 a.m. A resident reported she had been letting a man stay at her residence for a few days. She stated that after the man moved out she began receiving his mail. When the resident informed him to stop having the mail delivered she stated he became upset and raised his voice at her, causing her to be frightened.

PFC Vazquez informed the resident to contact the Vienna Police Department if the man returned and he would be informed to have no further contact with her. He also informed her if she received anymore mail for him to inform the senders he no longer lived at that address.

Assault 15-000739 Vision of Beauty 403 Maple Avenue, East January 22 5:34 p.m. Officer Tremont responded for the report of a 911 hang-up. Upon arriving he spoke with a customer who stated she had been in a verbal argument with another customer that culminated when he threw a cup of coffee at her.

The female customer stated she did not wish to pursue charges.

Arrest – Warrant Service 15-000744 300 Block Charles Street, SE January 22 7:13 p.m. Officer Slebonick received information from the Fairfax County Police Department that an individual who was wanted by their department for a violation of a Protective Order was residing in the Town of Vienna.

Officer Slebonick responded to the residence and located the wanted individual and subsequently arrested Mr. Richard Bannister Duval, 46, of Sunrise Road in Vienna for the Violation of a Protective Order.

Mr. Duval was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Violation of a Protective Order and held without bond.

Suspicious Event 15-000751 Dogwood Street, SW January 22 9:17 p.m. A citizen reported while walking in the area she observed what she believed to be a domestic abuse situation occurring in a residence.

Officer Slebonick responded to the residence and spoke with the residents who informed him they are the caretakers for their elderly father. The residents advised the son was assisting his father into a chair and became frustrated and may have cursed at him however no physical violence had occurred.

The father corroborated his son and daughter’s version of the incident and did not show any signs of an assault.

CRASHES

200 Block Maple Avenue, East 15-000490 January 16 2:15 p.m. The drivers of two vehicles were traveling east bound on Maple Avenue, East in the same lane of travel when the driver of the second vehicle rear ended the first vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle left the scene without exchanging information. Witnesses at the scene were able to provide the license plate information to Officer Tremont who was able to locate the driver a short time later.

The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Hit and Run.

Maple Avenue near Nutley Street, NW 15-000493 January 16 4:58 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was traveling west bound on Maple Avenue approaching the intersection at Nutley Street, NW.

The driver of the second vehicle was attempting to exit a parking lot onto Maple Avenue and pulled into the path of the first vehicle causing a collision.

The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Stop When Entering a Highway from a Private Driveway.

1100 Block Drake Street, SW 15-000565 January 17 11:00 p.m. The owner of a parked vehicle discovered his vehicle had been struck by an unknown vehicle.

900 Block Shady Drive, SE 15-000602 January 19 1:21 p.m. The driver of a vehicle was backing out of her driveway and backed into a legally parked vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

300 Block Lawyers Road, NW 15-000639 January 19 8:30 p.m. A resident reported that an unknown vehicle had left the roadway and struck the fence on his property.

Maple Avenue at Nutley Street, SW 15-000729 January 22 8:00 a.m. The drivers of two vehicles were traveling east bound on Maple Avenue, in the same lane of travel, and stopped for the red traffic signal at Nutley Street, SW.

The driver of the second vehicle stated the light turned green and she accelerated slightly faster than the first vehicle and bumped the rear bumper of the first vehicle.

Nutley Street near Courthouse Road, SW 15-000728 January 22 12:27 p.m. The drivers of three vehicles were traveling north bound on Nutley Street, SW. The drivers of vehicles one and two stopped for the red traffic signal at Courthouse Road, SW.

The driver of the third vehicle in line stated he was distracted by his pager and hit the accelerator instead of the brake and struck the second vehicle in line which then struck the first vehicle in line.

The driver of the third vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

Courthouse Road at Courthouse Circle, SW 15-000740 January 22 5:40 p.m. The drivers of two vehicles were traveling west bound on Courthouse Road, SW in the same lane of travel.

The driver of the first vehicle attempted to make a U-Turn and collided with the second vehicle.
