Town Of Vienna Buys Former Mayor's Property
The town will consider parkland and other uses for the $1.4 million property.
VIENNA, VA — The Town of Vienna has bought a former mayor's home after the death of his wife, a former councilmember. The 124 Courthouse Road SW property had been home to Charles Robinson, mayor from 1976 to his death in 2000, and Maud Robinson. The executor of Maud Robinon’s will held the aunction after Maud Robinson died on March 11 at age 96.
The town won the bid in a Nov. 22 online auction with a total price of $1,438,500. Vienna Town Council authorized the purchase at its Dec. 9 meeting. Town Council had previously authorized staff to bid on the property after a closed session in November. The cost limit for the bid was not disclosed.
The property is nearly three-quarters of an acre with a single-family house and outbuildings. The town is considering parkland and other uses for the property.

"Both of the Robinsons had an outsized impact on the Town of Vienna and contributed an enormous amount of their time, energy, and heart to creating a more personally connected and livable community," said Mayor Laurie DiRocco. "Maud Robinson was a champion of parks and conservation. The Town felt it appropriate to keep her and Charlie’s property ‘in the family’ and to utilize it for the benefit of the entire community."
